With every event regardless of size, budget, time of year, an invitation is always a key element in the planning process, a key decision to be made; after all the invitation is somewhat a prelude to the event. The invitation sets the tone to the event; it gives your guests an idea of what’s to come and what’s to be expected. Whether you’re requesting the company of your guests to attend a farewell brunch, a bachelorette party, an intimate dinner party, or a wedding, you want the invitation to impress! You want that first impression of the event which you’re planning to make a statement and nothing will make a nicer statement than a beautifully designed invitation.
I have to confess that I’ve had a very healthy obsession with the amazing designers at Praez Occasions! If you’re ever lucky enough to work with those phenomenal designers, you too will develop a healthy obsession with their work!

Planning Advice from Praez Occasions.
We employ a collaborative 3-part process that spans approximately 8-10 weeks, during which we analyze your needs, explore custom styling options, and execute the fine details. For best results, we offer the following tips:
• Start out a minimum of 3 months before the event to provide ample time to achieve your desired results
• Share your ideas & “design wish list”
• Provide details and images of the event site
• Submit venue maps & directions, as they can be incorporated into your design
• Submit images of your floral arrangements whenever possible
• Supply any special wording or phrases that you want to use
• Proofread everything carefully! It costs more to fix a mistake than to do it right the first time
We provide digital proofs on every design via Adobe PDF file by email, and make a physical sample available for final approval before commencing production.
Loving everything Praez Occasions,

“Prisoner of Love!” This is my absolutely, without a doubt my favorite invitation. The title sums it all for me. Can you imagine being the invite to receive such an invitation? What would you think about this wedding? I know I would gasp!
Can you imagine getting this as your Save The Date? I’m giggly just thinking about it!
I just love the peacock feathers in this menu card. What a grand way to dress the tables and make a statement. Do allow your eyes to wonder to the little details of the fine fabric and peacock studs.
How incredibly adorable are these lime green costume pair of sneakers by Converse? I came across these while visiting the amazing Memory Journalists who captured the pictures in Sacramento. Oh, don’t worry, your groom can customize his pair as well. I’m truly giddy about personalizing a certain pair for a certain planner. Yours truly; Violaine
Giddy about Converse,

Well hello heels! May I introduce you to a new close friend of mine? Meet shoe-clips from Linden Lovebirds. These lovely little flower clips were design to add a burst of color, a little bit of sass, a little bit of elegant funk and perhaps a mini lift?
These little burst of colored clips are all handmade and custom in your colors. Think how cute these would be on your bride’s maid’s shoes and just think, they can use them over and over again. I vote you buy a few and surprise your girls with a paid in your next opportunity.
I, on the other hand, I’m getting the burned orange, and multi colored rose.
Thinking of my heels,

In my constant need to feed my mild obsession with bold, stunning, colorful and statement making jewelry I stumbled across Elva Fields.
Elva Fields Jewelry, started in 2003, as the result of the designers degrees from Hollins University in both French and Art History, where she quickly discovered a passion for the history of jewelry in her graduate work at The Bard Graduate Center for Decorative Arts, Design, and Culture in New York City. Her Masters thesis explored the relationship between Italian Renaissance and ancient Greek and Roman jewelry, which inspired a semester at the Jewelry Arts Institute in Manhattan. Here, she acquired metalworking skills in the ancient tradition and, simultaneously, a recognition that it might be possible to combine interests in the study of jewelry and the creation of it.
To create her unique designs, Emily scours local and far-flung markets, auctions, and shops for unusual vintage and antique pieces to use in all three of the Elva Fields lines—Elva, June, and Deb—which are named for the artist’s great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother, respectively. (How nice is that)? The treasured finds are then reconfigured and incorporated in unexpected, timeless designs. One might find a strand of old paste pearls with an antique carved ivory brooch as its pendant, or a 1930s Bakelite belt buckle clasping glittering chains from just a decade later. Elva Fields Jewelry, made in the designer’s home studio in Kentucky, can be found in boutiques throughout the United States
In the spirit of the women who inspired Elva Fields Jewelry and its namesake lines, a portion of every online purchase is donated to Backpack Buddies of Spencer County, a program providing school-age children in the company’s local rural community of Taylorsville, Kentucky with healthy meals and snacks each weekend of the academic year. For a little less than $3 per bag, the program offers a backpack full of food for each one of approximately 160 children enrolled in the service, so $3 of each sale on the Elva Fields website will be contributed to the welfare and health of children who depend on the local schools for every meal. For more information on the Backpack Buddies program, please visit their website.
What are your feelings toward these pieces? I’m thinking anyone can wear these necklaces at a wedding or just to glam up for an event. Now, you know the very first piece is always my personal favorite. This piece just spoke to me in its bright, vivid yellow and dynamic vintage rhinestone brooch. What a way to top a simple black or white dress.
Loving what I do,
Violaine Diogene
The world is your oyster in a sunny stunner like this one. Five strands of faceted bright yellow crystal are a fabulously glittering backdrop for a dynamic vintage rhinestone brooch with pronged silvertone settings. A floral-adorned sterling silver clasp from India completes the sparkling springtime look.
You’ll walk with style in your step in this can’t-miss design. Polished turquoise howlite teardrops with gilt brass beads from India overlap beautifully in two strands, while a vintage compact by Stratton from Great Britain becomes a notice-me-now pendant. Its crackled, snakeskin-patterned cover opens to reveal the original puff and label inside, never filled with powder or blush. Vintage goldtone clasp, approximately 18″ long
We fell head over heels for this vintage flower—for its unusual design (we’ve never seen another quite like it) and its size (a statement-making 4 inches)—and we feel sure you’ll agree that it’s too fabulous for words. Paired with two strands of polished white coral beads, the effect is pure stylishness. From the golden leaves and petals to the lush clusters of white bead dangles, the vintage fur clip (once adorning and clasping a mink stole, perhaps?) likely dates to the 1940s or 50s, and becomes a gorgeous corsage at the side of this necklace. A gold vermeil clasp fastens the necklace at 18″. In a word, captivating.
Found on the same day just a few feet from one another, we wonder if these beads and brooch would have ever met without Elva intervention. Once together, it seems they were meant to be—a gorgeous shade of green abounds in the vintage lucite beads, perfectly highlighting the vibrant hues of the vintage matte enamel flower brooch. A sterling silver toggle clasps the necklace at 17″ long. We may just go into matchmaking!
There is very little in this world that doesn’t look better when pictured against a sky of blue—in fact, a blue sky can make even the barest of winter branches or the tiniest bird seem striking and stunning. Not that this set of vintage jewels needed any help—they are gloriously gorgeous and made by Ben Reig, who was a designer to the Hollywood style mavens in the 1950s. Against a cobalt blue backdrop? Blue sky beautiful. Adjustable sterling silver toggle clasp, approximately 18″ long.
We sense something powerful in the combination of gilt brass beads from India—with their serene sparkle in literally any light—and a set of vintage enamel and rhinestone flowers—in the perfect shade of yellow with a few glittering studs of rhinestone at their centers. The design is simultaneously a force with which to be reckoned and a breath of fresh air…all while bringing good things on the way. Antiqued gold vermeil toggle, approximately 17.5″ long
Lately I’ve found myself captivated with TrendHunter.com which is a blog for the fashion obsessed woman. It’s not that I’m obsessed with fashion or anything like that (well, maybe just a tiny, tiny, little bit). I strongly believe in an individual’s personal style and the desire to create his/her own trends.
Last week, I came across this Finland born, accessory designer name Kirsi Nisonen. Now, you know how much I love an accessory that oozes of drama and let me tell you, Kirsi Nisonen does not disappoint! From what I’ve seen, her designs not only bring drama but they are seductive, dangerous in the most luxurious way.
Kirsi’s collection includes hats, turbans; yes, you read it right. Turbans! And of course hair accessories. According to Kirsi Nisonen, all her accessories are handmade in Finland with the finest attention to details. The pieces are made from the best luxury materials like silk, wool, sequins and leather. Before launching her signature collection, Nisonen worked as a costumier and an atelier seamstress for many years. The designs use strong colors and clean-cut shapes, and are a mixture of nostalgia, feminine allure and uncompromised fashion.
What do you think of these hats? I’m thinking about wearing one with a very simple cocktail dress with simple heels and envelop bag. How would you wear one?
Inspired to make a statement,

For as long as I can remember, every Sunday afternoon I’ll spend some quality time turning the pages of one of my favorite wedding magazines and this Sunday was no different. This little time that I refer to as “Bridal Magazine Time” usually gives me something to think about, chat about and definitely obsessed about and my new obsession (at least for this week) is Stephanie Browne of Australia.
Who is Stephanie Browne? Am I glad you asked…
Stephanie Browne is a designer of elegant couture jewelry with a combination of classic and uncomplicated pieces through to strikingly bold “must have” fashion accessories. Several of her collections are highlighted with head turning feather hair accessories, bejeweled belts and headbands, and stories inspired by the increasingly popular styles of the 1920’s showgirl era. Yes, I know; this must be an incredible collection and let me assure you my sweet darling brides, it is!
Stephanie’s awareness of her customers is legendary. Her unique styling allows the wearer to be reminded of classic elegance of a time gone by. Each design reflects originality and beauty, with each hand made piece ensured to become a treasured possession.
According Stephanie Browne, every piece of her work is an original designed, hand-made collection is made using only the finest of components, from Swarovski crystals and pearls, rhodium non-tarnishing bases, flowing emu and peacock feathers, through to silk flowers. And you know I love peacock feathers and Swarovski crystals.
I’m going to start this favorite category off with this stunning and simply to die for piece and you’re right… these pieces are not for the fainted heart. These pieces are for the bride whom adores boldness and dares to make a statement. My absolute number one pick had to be this piece referred to as St Tropez Headpiece and WOW is all I have to say about that.
Obsessed with anything and everything wedding,
Violaine Diogene

What a winter we’ve had in Atlanta! This is my third winter here and I can say it has been unseasonably cold here and my thoughts are often turned to the temperate days I usually enjoy in the spring while trying to look like I can plant a few flowers. Dare I say I’m welcoming the arrival of spring? While trying to get my mind in spring mode, I’ve been searching for amazing and beautiful spring wedding accents and came across this scrumptious SmittenXOXO studio that produced all the gorgeous hair pieces in this post.
So, I’m completely smitten by this SmittenXOXO for being so incredibly creative, exotic and unique. According to the studio, all Smitten products are made with utmost care, and highest quality materials. Everything is hand-made with the highest degree of craftsmanship. And I’m all for that. Below are my favorite items from the site but I had to start by posting my very first favorite piece which is this stunning oversized flower named Dos Gardenias Para Ti. Isn’t it lovely? I’m thinking this piece would be perfect for an outdoor garden wedding or any other ceremony for that matter; if you don’t plan on wearing a veil. And yes, you certainly can wear this if you’ve a guest who just wants to make your statement!
My second favorite this very daring and bold piece name The Murderess! Yeah, I know; I smiled when I saw the name and I must confess that I think I like it even more because of its name. But look at it. I’m in love with the bold, dark velvet red eggplant color and the pale red feathers are simply striking.
As a bride, do you think you can pull your look by wearing The Murderess? I think you can! Let me know your thoughts on this post.
Smitten by SmittenXOXO,
Violaine Diogene
Paige Gamble, who’s that? I know, I didn’t know who this amazing and brilliant designer was until I came across her work on one of my favorite bag reviewers, The Bag Snob! Ok, so I might have missed out on something huge but I’m catching up and let me tell you, Paige Gamble will soon be a household name; well, if you’re obsessed with nice, quality bags.
Paige Gamble is based out of none-other New York City where she produces products that are handcrafted in the finest materials in the world. These bags are so exquisite, there’s a video on her website to show you exactly how to open these clutches; I know, I started to giggle when I saw it. According to Kelly of Bag Snobs, Paige is opening her very first store in Aspen and I can’t wait to hear of the amazing art she will draw for us.
I have to tell you, I had a hard time choosing just one clutch (I know, it’s hard to believe) so, naturaly I had to pick two bags. The very first bag (Sapphire Python and White Flowers) has to be my favorite. I can see this clutch being paired with simple shoes and a killer cocktail dress or stunning ballroom wedding gown.
My second favorite is the White Matte Python and Green Turquoise Wheels. This one is so easy to be paired with a very simple, yet elegant white mini gown and a pair of Turquoise neck piece would stop traffic. Every girl should be able to stop traffic in time square!
Well, what do you think? How would you wear one of these clutches?
I’ve died and gone in clutch heaven,
Violaine Diogene

By now, I trust that you know my healthy love affair with shoes. Certainly one of my favorite things to write about is shoes. One of my favorite and dearest brides is taking a daring and fun approached to her wedding ensembles by wearing a pair of bold colored shoes (Brian Atwood Orange ribbons) with her bright white Vera Wang dress. And you guessed it; she prompted me to write about shoes.
I love the idea of wearing a pair of diva shoes in place of the traditional white shoes. No, there is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing white shoes if that’s what your darling little hears desire, but just think about the amazing contrast of pairing your amazing designer gown with a stunning pair of diva shoes.
Because of my love of shoes and because these shoes lack nothing at all, I’ve included just a few of my favorite pairs. I simple need to hit to lottery to afford each and every single pair in my collection below. To view each shoe’s designer, simply click on the shoe and a window will open with designer’s name.
What do you think? What color shoes are you wearing for your big day? Seriously, nothing pleases me more than to hear your thoughts on my posts.
In shoe bliss,
Violaine Diogene
Today while trying to get my annual bargain at one of my very favorite stores in the world, (Saks Fifth Avenue) I ran into one of my grooms whom was also out shopping. He was in the men’s department in front of a mirror receiving what appeared to be a valuable lesson in tying a tie. And you guessed it, I had this “aha” moment and here I am writing a series on the different ways for a man to tie his tie but most importantly, I’m really about this for the ladies. If you’re a wife, the future wife or woman in a man’s life, you need to know how to tie his tie. This is one of the nicest and even the sexiest thing a woman can do for her man (in my humble opinion of course).
A few years ago, I learned how to tie a tie at A Macy’s in downtown Boston (I really wanted to impress my husband) and to my surprise, it was much more difficult than I ever imagined but once I learned, it was actually much easier than I had ever imagined. Now, I know this might sound odd, but the type of tie, color of the tie, and type of knot you use on a tie all can convey into a certain meaning. Try to keep up; Take the Windsor knot for example. The Windsor knot is a knot that exudes confidence and power due to its wide, triangular shape. Falsely named after the Duke of Windsor, the Windsor knot (also known as the full Windsor or double Windsor) is usually worn for formal occasions. This type of knot looks best worn with a shirt collar that is considerably cut-away.
I’ve included some very detailed instructions as well a video for you to learn this very important skill at your own pace. Next week, we’ll look into tying a different knot. I hope buy now it’s evident that I want to hear from you. I love to hear your thoughts on my post. I hope I’ve inspired you and challenged your minds in the past few months.
Always hoping to inspire you,
Violaine Diogene

Step 1: Lift up the collar of your shirt, put the tie around your neck so the wide end hangs down on the side of your dominant hand.
Step 2: Cross he wide end over the front of the thin end a few inches below your neck.
Step 3: Slip the wide end up through the back of the V-shape made by the two ends, pulling it out toward your non-dominant hand.
Step 4: Wrap the wide end around the knot and slip it up through the back of the V-shape made by the knot.
Step 5: Tuck the wide end into the front loop of the knot.
Step 6: Tug on the wide and thin ends gently from below the knot until the knot is tight.
Step 7: Hod the thin end with your non-dominant hand and slide the knot up to your neck with your hand.
Step 8: Flip your collar down and get going.
